Sam at his inspection at 2,5 years old in Muenchen:
Our Silver Sam impresses
with his unique pedigree combining outstanding Irish, German and Danish
bloodlines. On both the maternal and the paternal side you can find
strong performance ponies, who are also some of the best in the show and
Sam’s Sire Clifden Silver was sold as a foal from Ireland to
Luxembourg, where he was licensed as a Class I stallion later. He is
used as a competition horse mainly. Meanwhile he gets a lot attention
during his results in Showjumping and Cross Country. In 2008 Clifden
Silver was standing at Sternbergs Stud (leased from his owner in
Switzerland). All his foals were awarded as Premiumfoals.
Silvers Sire Coosheen Thyme
is sired by the wellknown stallion Coosheen Finn. A fullsister by
Coosheen Thyme. Coosheen Dill was "Show Jumper of the Year” in
Sweden 1989. Another fullsister Coosheen Coriander was "Goldmedal
mare" in Sweden as well.
Coosheen Thyme's Sire Coosheen Finn (two times Reserve winner of
the stallion class in Clifden 1973 and 1974, Winner of the class in
Clifden 1978) is a legend in Ireland! - He is the only Connemara
stallion, who is printed on a stamp. His daughters Coosheen Nutmeg
and Abbeyleix Delphinium were Supreme Champions in Clifden 1980
and 1983. Also he sired many more Class and Show winners such as the
stallion Abbeyleix Dolphin.
Coosheen Thyme has beside Clifden Silver at least two more licensed
stallion sons, Ardbear Spirit, who is standing in England and Gentle Dancer in
France. Interesting that all three stallions do not only share their
Sire Coosheen Thyme, but also all three have Mervyn Kingsmill on the
motherside of their pedigrees. A stallion which has sired lots of
Clifden Winners as well.
Coosheen Thyme's maternal grandsire Bridge Boy was Supreme Champion of the Connemara Pony Clifden National Show three times
(!) and has sired many performance ponies. He is Grandsire of Munkholm Cobbergate (6th
place European Championships, dressage) and of Caraway ("Kaderpony",
|Silver's dam is the mare April Queen,
who is a fullsister of the Class I stallion Vales Blue Boden (S.
His maternal grandsire Boden Park
Finnard is Sire of many successful ponies, in competitions and at
shows. For example Wild West Charly, a very successful eventing
pony in Germany. As well as successful inhand show ponies like
Village Heather, Seoigeach (S. 1135), Glencarrig Fiona,
Canal Linda and many more.
Out of the same motherline, going back to
the mare Power Station, comes the highly successful English
Bunowen Castle Ri (won Champion
titles at the Horse of The Year Show and Olympia, Ridden Champion at the
BCPS ridden show, Reserve Champion Stallion 2001, Champion Stallion
2002, Supreme Champion 2006 of the BCPS breed show)). Also Bunowen
Castle Ri has again Mervyn Kingsmill in his pedigree.
Sam's dam Maike is a really
proven broodmare in our stud. Maike, herself is a successful performance
tested Premium mare. She convinces - without exception - with super
offspring. Besides her Class I stallion son Sam (by the way the only new
licensed Connemara stallion in Bavaria in 2011), she also is mother of
our young broodmare Sternbergs Malena by Skousboe Morning Rock,
who was the only Connemara mare awarded with the States Premium Title at
Landesshow in Munich 2011, Best in Race and also was choosen as “Best
Native Sportspony”. Maike had two further foals by El Larry who were
both Gold Premium awarded. Her younger son was recommended to be raised
as stallion prospect. Meanwhile this colt, brother to Silver Sam, is
also a Class I stallion and was Youth Champion of the South German
Connemara Show 2013. Besides her job as a broodmare Maike is a wonderful
riding pony as well. Versatile in dressage lessons, at showjumping
competitions or nice hackings.
The high quality of Maike's foals comes not by chance. She comes from one of the
most proven mare lines from the stud of Mr. Doerfler, who has bred many
in show and sport successful Connemara Ponies. Also Maike's Sire Premium
Stallion Diamant comes from this stud. Diamant was Champion of
the Bavarian Pony Inspection 1995, but was also an outstanding
sportspony. He was not only “Kaderpony” in dressage and jumping at the
same time, also he was shown in dressage until level L and jumping
even until level M. Furthermore, as an 18 years old pony he even participated for
Poland at the European Pony Championships. A fullbrother of Diamant, the
is a successful sire in Holland and was competing there until the
highest level in dressage. One more fullsister of Diamant,
Lovely Diamond was one of the most outstanding dressage ponies in
Bavaria and she is the foundation broodmare of a very successful German
Riding Pony stud.
Maike's dam Mareike was Winner of her Performance test and also
Classwinner and Reserve Champion mare at the South German Connemara Show
2007. Her offspring at Mr. Doerfler’s stud presented several high
awarded foals and Mareike’s one daughter was Best in Race at the
Damsire of Maike is the wellknown
elite stallion Skatholm Ladykiller, who has sired very successful
offspring. He not only founded an impressive stallion line in Germany,
but also produced very good mares. One of them is our performance tested
States Premium Sternbergs Snowfly, who is the dam of a Class I Stallion
Many of Ladykiller's sons and daughters were shown successfully at competitions.
For example his son Ladylover who was shown in dressage until level M.
The success of his offspring are not by chance as Ladykiller is sired by
Munkholm Cobbergate who was participant at European Championships and
sired top offspring, although not a long time standing at stud.
Because of the combination of these proven bloodlines we are sure that
Sam will not only give type, but especially riding and jumping ability
constantly to his foals.
With just four years of age he has
already fully convinced with his outstanding jumping ability. Sternbergs
Silver Sam was best pony at the two-days-performance test for sport pony
stallions in Ansbach 2012 with an 8 for loose jumping and a 9(!!) out of
10 for show jumping. Also he was already placed in cross country
competitions in 2012.
